Post Sarah Palin Sore Loser, Now Quitter
http://www.twincities.com/news/ci_12748944

Sarah Palin plans to resign as Governor of Alaska. She claims that because she isn't running for reelection, that her Governorship would be a lame duck tenure and, therefore, the "politics as usual" she has always campaigned against.

It would strike me that if one didn't want it to be politics as usual, that one wouldn't give in to the idea of a lame duck tenure and actually get off their butt and try to do something with the power they've been granted. The people of Alaska voted this person in as their leader, and she took an oath to serve them. Now, she's breaking that oath, and that's supposed to be OK? How does that work?

Why should we think of Palin as a legitimate candidate for President of the United States if she so easily throws in the towel as Governor of Alaska?

Only Ann Coulter thinks Sarah Palin is a valid candidate for president in 2012. I would think Ann Coulter would be the only one to think that Sarah Palin is a valid human being, but you have to be one to know one.

Actually, I've talked to a number of Repubs who think Palin is a viable candidate, some of them on Anti-Strib.com. I don't post there anymore because they tend to believe whatever they perceive to be to their advantage to believe, facts be damned. And they aren't very bright. I was calling 'em zombies for awhile because it was the word that best fit their brain-dead existences, but for some reason they took offense and instituted civility rules. It'll be an improved site if they can live up to them, but it's still a frustrating experience trying to communicate with 'em. I't s a bit like discussing current events with monkeys - what the feedback lacks in coherency it makes up in volume and bile. They agree wills are contracts, for example, legal definitions notwithstanding and the fact that wills aren't contracts doesn't impinge on their beliefs in the slightest. They're an almost perfect microcosm of the Repub base.

As for Palin, I'm betting there's another shoe to drop, some story about to come out that would have her constituents clamoring for her head anyway, so she's quitting to stay one step ahead of the tar-and-feather brigade.
