First and foremost, this story cites no actual cases so nothing can be verified. BIG FAIL.

Raids in Los Angeles this week that uncovered an extraordinary cache of illegal assault weapons were prompted in part by an increased use of high-powered weapons in San Fernando Valley shootings, police said.

Two men and one woman were arrested this week after authorities raided a downtown warehouse and several Los Angeles homes and seized 32 firearms, including semiautomatic rifles, high-caliber guns and ammunition for AK-47s.

Deceptive wording. Authorities seized 32 firearms which included semiautomatic rifles, high-caliber guns and ammunition for AK-47s. Since we can't verify anything I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that no AK-47s were actually seized. The 7.62x39mm round is fired by a number of guns. I believe the SKS is Cali-legal. But because the reporter either wanted to demonize guns or the reporter just wants to scare everyone as much as possible, she decided to ensure that the AK-47 made it in the report somewhere.

Authorities have noticed an increase in high-caliber weapons in Los Angeles. One of the most startling incidents was when a Fabrique National 57, an assault pistol used to kill big game, was found in a victim's car by detectives investigating a double-homicide last year in North Hollywood.

The 5.7 millimeter bullet is significantly smaller than the 9 millimeter bullet. High-caliber does not describe it at all. Then we go on to calling the pistol an assault pistol. The definition for assault rifle hasn't even been hammered down yet and now you want to bring in assault pistol? Seriously? Then we go on to mention that it was found in a victim's car. Was it dropped by evil gang members? Was the victim a gang member? Did you just want to (incorrectly) point out that the Five Seven is an assault pistol used for hunting big game?

And in October, police found dozens of casings sprayed from high-caliber weapons at the scene of a homicide on Sherman Way in North Hollywood, where gunmen wore ballistic body armor, Moore said.

Care to report on, oh I don't know, ANY of the details? Or do you just want to scare everyone by saying high-caliber as much as possible without backing it up in the slightest?

Undercover officers from LAPD's counterterrorism bureau then bought semi-automatic and fully automatic weapons from a dealer.

Counter terrorism is two words. You're also switching between semi automatic, semi-automatic, and semiautomatic seemingly at random. Pick one. Then tell us the details about the dealer who was busted! You're a reporter! Fucking report something!

Recent killings of four Oakland police officers gunned down by a parolee with a semi-automatic weapon has reignited cries for the federal government to reinstate a ban on assault weapons, which expired in 2004.

Care to give the details of the parolee's crime? Was it a felony? I'm sure you don't want us to know because then we would be able to determine that the parolee shouldn't have had a gun of any sort to gun down police in the first place, and that one more stupid law wouldn't have prevented him from doing so. But given that you're not talking about any of the cons of the assault weapons ban, just putting it out there as a remedy to cure all ills, I'm going to guess that you think it's a good idea so you're not going to argue with it at all. Great reporting. Dip shit.

The irony bar is dropped on us because earlier in the story they mentioned a shooting in North Hollywood by assailants who wore body armor. Ironically North Hollywood was the location of the ever so famous North Hollywood Shootout. The important details of which are two men decked out in body armor used fully automatic assault rifles to terrorize a small section of neighborhood for nearly an hour. This happened in 1997, during the hay day of your precious assault weapons ban. Thank god it was there to save us all.

Assault weapons are illegal in California. But they are legally sold in several nearby states, including Arizona, Nevada and Texas.

And if assault weapons were illegal in the United States as a whole, they would be sold in nearby countries. What's your fucking point? That criminals will always have access to guns that they shouldn't? Oh hey now you're talking.

And now for the bonus ass hattery that I didn't think anyone would pick up on. This "story" (or more accurately, commentary) was obviously (pitiful amounts of) information about events that have transpired over a number of days at least. Yet it's listed as breaking news.

Fail reporter is failing.
