Post MPD: Dolan Defends Firing Of Jason Anderson

MPD Chief Timothy Dolan defended the firing of Officer Jason Anderson and denies that there is any connection to the Fong Lee shooting case. It would appear that the firing is based on yet undisclosed details from Anderson's domestic assault case, which was dropped by the county attorney. Dolan's position is that the threshhold for internal discipline cases is lower than that of a criminal court. The police union sees it otherwise and intends to fight the termination.

Post Judge Timothy Blakely Illustrates Double Standard

The Minnesota Supreme Court has suspended Dakota County Judge Timothy Blakely for six months after he was found to have essentially taken a $64,000 bribe from an attorney who represented him in an expensive divorce case by steering court business to them in exchange for a personal discount on legal fees. He will return to the bench and his $123,000 annual paycheck at the end of the six month suspension.

Pretty difficult to see the difference between this case and that of Officer Jason Anderson. Blakely's conduct is clearly criminal, but he faced no charges and will continue on his highly paid professional career. Anderson was not criminally charged, but has been thrown out of his profession. Guess the difference is that Blakely is a lawyer, facing the consequences imposed by his fellow lawyers- such as they are.
