Post Supreme Court To Review Chicago Handgun Ban
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/judicial/2009-09-30-supreme-court-guns_N.htm

The US Supreme Court will review the constitutionality of Chicago's 1982 ban on handguns, similar to a Washington, DC law overturned by the court recently. Supporters of the law say that the protection of the 2nd Amendment is not binding on state and local government. Sure would be interesting to see that theory applied to the many federal mandates that now bind all states to their bidding...

Despite the 27 year old handgun ban, Chicago remains one of the deadliest cities in the US, with a death rate nearly double that of New York and at least 40% higher than US troop casualty rates in Iraq in 2008.

There was some talk about this on another forum I'm on. Apparently a win here is bigger than just a 2nd Amendment win. It would basically open the door for the entire Bill of Rights to be applied at the local level, which apparently it isn't now or something. I don't know.
