I experienced The Anchor last evening. Arrived just before 5:30 and there was already a (short) wait for a table. By the time we left an hour later there were many, many more crowded into the small entry, patiently waiting. No one seemed distressed by the wait or the tight space. Our waitress told us it is this way every night. And i see why. I had the fish and chips (small portion.) There was nothing small about the portion size - I left almost 1/2 of the order uneated. The fish was cooked perfectly - it was delicious, as were the amazing "chips." Next time i will pass on the curry sauce offered with the fries - why mess with perfection? My friend who has to have meat at least once a day opted for the burger with cheddar, made with grass fed beef from the local 1000 Hills Cattle Farm in Cannon Falls. Described on the menu as "ridiculously good" he agreed. They have no liquor license and the wine list is short, but probably most order ale with their fish, which they have. This tiny gem in Nordeast looks like it will be very successful. They have a winning formula.
