If you really want that rebate money back, don't buy the product at Best Buy, especially when it's a "manufacturer's rebate". I have lost money on those and some of the folks at Best Buy would show you the front door after they've told you "there is nothing I can do about your rebate, it's a manufacturer's rebate". But oh, first they'd tell you 8 weeks is a suggested time, and when you show up 12 weeks later, asking about your cash, it's then that they'd tell you they can't help. So, how do you do business with manufacturers if you can't hold them up to promises they've made to YOUR customers. No one at Best Buy was able to answer that.

OfficeMax seems to have a better reputation when it comes to honoring rebates. The rebates often come back fast and they offer an online tracking system that you can see when the check has been mailed out.

I only had very limited experience wth Best Buy rebates. They seemed to arrive very slowly though, sometimes after 4-5 months.

Most customers don't want to go through the hassle of sending in the UPC bar code and the receipt. Plus, the rebate checks don't always show up in the mail. Those rebate offers don't attract a big crowd these days. So, a lot of stores will phase out these "rebate" programs.

You're quite right about OfficeMax. Atleast the one in St. Cloud, the managers would promise to call me and did, when they've contacted the manufactures and ascertained why the check had not been received. As a matter of fact, whenever I do rebate now, I only do it with OfficeMax.
