A suspect was charged today with attempted murder in the first- and second-degree in connection with a stabbing incident in a Fridley attorney's office late last week.

The Anoka County Sheriff's office said that Sheikh Nyane, 33, of St. Paul, told police that he committed the stabbing and used a knife he brought from home.

The defendant had recently lost legal and physical custody of his child and on Friday entered the office of the attorney representing his ex-wife in the family court matter and allegedly stabbed her repeatedly in the face and throat. The 54-year-old woman was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment. The victim is expected to survive her injuries.

A lot of violence is done to men during these proceedings.

It's no wonder that every now and then, one of them decides not to take it.
