Post Delayed Occupancy- Sales Hindrance?

I am planning to sell my home and intend to put it on the market in the spring of 2008. I don't want to actually vacate my house until summertime if at all possible, due to desired completion of the school year. Is the practice of allowing the seller to remain in the home until a particular date a hindrance in selling the property?

If I understand you correctly, you would like to put your home on the market and have it sold and then stay in the home until a certain date. That is possible. It's called a "rent back." It can be difficult to coordinate with the buyer as they may be need to or be anxious to move into their new home.

You mentioned putting it on the market in the Spring and move after school is out. That is a normal time line on it's own that would allow you to have the closing after school is out for the year and then move on the day of closing. That time line is not a problem.
