Caught this one at a matinee today. Very decent special effects, although we've come to expect them these days. Other than that, a lame plot, superficial dialogue, and rather disappointing and pointless appearances from Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, who appear to have been cast to lend some gravitas to the leading man Chris Hemsworth, whose acting chops are closely akin to those of The Rock.
The overall complexity of the film is in the neighborhood of the Conan the Barbarian series, with the gore toned down a little. Frankly don't see what all the excitement is about, other than the fact that most of its competition in the theaters right now is even worse. Expect Thor II one of these days, in which Natalie Portman finds a way through the portal of space and time so that she can find out what kind of hammer Thor's really packing, a quest she never fulfilled in this edition.
