For justice. For the preservation of human rights and to acquire the basic necessities for me and my loved ones. To rid myself of annoyances (I kill a lot of mosquitoes and flies in the summer).

Reminds me of a great story by one of my favorite childhood authors -- Firehunter, by Jim Kjelgaard, author of the Big Red series. A prehistoric spearmaker is cast out of his nomadic tribe at the same time one of the young women becomes too lame to travel and is left behind. The two team up to survive in a Hobbesian world and invent bow-and-arrows (with poison arrows), domesticate dogs, plant crops, establish hunting zones, (and in the sequel refine uranium and build an atom bomb.)
