Post Kreg Jig- Amazing Woodworking Tool

Yeah, I know I'm going off the deep end. Sometimes I do that when I find a new hobby or pasttime that excites me.

I've been remodeling my kitchen, doing most of the work myself. I'm trying to take my time and do a nice, professional grade job. A lot of things stump me, but it's satisfying to learn the answers. I have no experience at all in doing high grade finish carpentry or cabinetry.

A guy at work told me about a woodworking tool that has really kicked me into high gear. It's called the Kreg Jig. I bought the middle of the road package for about $71. It's a jig that allows you to drill angled holes into wood which, combined with carpenter's glue, produces a clean, straight joint between two pieces of wood. It can join them at an angle, side by side, end to end, and lots of other ways. The joint is extremely strong, which was a big factor for me, since a range hood is going to be hanging on it.

I used the jig for about 4 hours today. I built the carcass for a kitchen cabinet that is much better than what I have installed now, and tons better than the staple-and-glue prefabs you get in the home improvement stores which are made of flimsy material and don't hold up well. Now all I have to do is hang it and put the doors and facing on, and I've got a very nice upper kitchen cabinet. Whoopee!

It's the coolest tool I've ever bought, and even a dummy like me can make it work.
