Johan Santana had a great debut for the New York Mets, striking out 8 enroute to a 7-2 win over the Florida Marlins.
Incidentally, Carlos Gomez had a pretty good night himself in the Twins' 3-2 win over California. I watched the last couple of innings and the Metrodome was PUMPED. Tori Hunter had a chance to win it and was struck out swinging for the seats.
Glad to see them both doing well. Santana gave us some great years, and Gomez has an exciting future.
I'll never forget watching Santana warm up in the Metrodome, throwing strikes from center field to a catcher standing on the foul line. You could hear the mitt crack up in the stands when the ball arrived. Wow.
