I don't think of this as something I hate, rather comedy gold waiting to happen.
Though not specific to winter driving, I did see something splendid on my way in to work today, though I doubt the semi driver involved would call it splendid.
I'm driving in on 494 west just after Prairie Center Drive and there have been this line of 3 semis not really going slowly so much as everyone else wants to go really really fast. The first semi is the hold up, he's carrying a huge earth mover, oversize load and all that.
I'm starting to pass the middle semi when he puts his signal on, he wants to go faster and to do that he needs to be in my lane. No problem, I don't pass a semi unless I can do it in less than 2 or 3 seconds or unless I have a lane I can escape to. Easy.
So we all move over and I'm able to speed up and I get ahead of the first semi just in time to see a white Jeep Cherokee swerve from the middle lane to the right lane not even a full car length in front of the first semi. The Jeep then slammed on his breaks so that he could slide in to an opening in a line of cars waiting to get off the highway to whatever exit that was.
Unfortunately the semi was ready for this and slammed on his breaks to avoid crushing this guy's snazzy little Jeep. But thankfully the 2nd semi had already moved to the middle lane so there was a full semi length between the first and third semis, so no semi pileup on 494 today.
