Gopher football coach Tim Brewster, hired for his expertise in recruiting star players, has his first full recruiting class under his belt, and the results are clear. A Star Tribune analysis of incoming freshmen football recruits in the Big 12 conference shows Minnesota's group has the lowest average ACT college readiness scores of all.
Seems contrary to the legacy of the University of Minnesota, which has generally appeared to take an approach to recruiting that produces fair to middling athletic teams, but refused to compromise on academic standards.
I suspect most Minnesotans would prefer to maintain our standards, rather than accumulate championship trophies won by illiterate thugs as other programs have done.
