If you believe in the fundamental soundness of the American economy, it's time to buy stock in quality companies. If I had any extra cash laying around, I'd be jumping all over it. If you don't think the US has good long term prospects, it's time to buy your 40 acres and a mule, because if the backbone of the US economy collapses, your money won't be worth anything anyway, nor will your job.
