The more I watch the appearances, the more it becomes clear to me. The rigors of the campaign are taking a physical toll on Senator McCain. He is stiff and faltering. Not criticizing, just observing. He is, after all, 72 years old. And, I believe, damaged physically, mentally and emotionally, by his POW experiences. And so the campaign staff have used Palin to counteract. Thus, the power-walking struts to the stage in heels, the facial gymnastics, the memorized talking points that are delivered in a jerky rush - staccato. They are striving to project energy. McCain cannot deliver energy, and Palin has no depth.
