A bogus check cashing scam using the name of the Publishers Clearinghouse sweepstakes is reaching Minnesota residents. The scammers notify addressees that they have won the contest, and enclose a check to cover expenses which the recipient is to cash and forward to "administrators". The check is phony, and the person depositing it is stuck covering the bad deposit in their account, while the real money is long gone in the hands of the scammer.
