I've been a member of a couple of, what I believed, were fairly sensible gun communities. My sentiments of the 1994 assault weapons ban being a joke and a feel good measure were echoed by many in the communities.
Fast forward and now we have Obama waiting to take over the White House and as expected the FUD has swept through the gun community as a whole like wild fire. Now I had originally thought that the communities I was a member of would be able to hold it together. Apparently not.
So the big thing is some rumor about re-authorizing the 1994 ban. Now everyone's talking about getting in their orders for their AR-15s and AK-47s and what else have you. Some people are making big investments and buying AR-15 lower receivers in shipments of 10 and 20.
So now the question I have for all of my friends in the gun communities I am a part of is this:
If the 1994 ban was nothing more than a feel good measure, why panic? Either it was something to worry about, or it wasn't. The fact that I bought my AR-15 during the assault weapons ban is pretty much all the proof I need that the ban was a joke.
So in short, fight the panic.
