Taliban militants on motorbikes attacked young girls walking from school in Afghanistan and threw battery acid in their faces, because the girls disobeyed the Taliban edict that they were not allowed to be educated. At least two of the girls were blinded in the attacks.

Ugh. GOD.

One of the women victimized by Taliban acid attacks wants her attackers sprayed with acid themselves and then hung. The more merciful and enlightened Afghan president simply wants them shot in public.

On the bright side, this article points out the great increase in education for Afghans, including girls, since the Taliban were removed from power. It also notes that several of the brave ladies injured in the attacks say they will not be discouraged from continuing their education and teaching. That's inspiring.
