The book is hilarious and sometimes quite profound in its insights. I felt a little more reverent just by reading it. I also had to fight the urge to read some of the more hysterical passages aloud to whomever happened to be in the room.
Jacobs has a team of spiritual advisers guiding him on his quest, and they offer colorful and intelligent insights into the Bible, its history and interpretation. He also visits everyone from the Amish to Folwell's Megachurgh to the Red-Letter Christians (who focus on Jesus' message of social justice) to a homosexual men's Christian group in NYC.
I highly recommend this book to the religious and skeptical alike. It's a fascinating read.
