Minnesota is not a nice state. It's a frigidly polite state. There is a major difference. Some of the meanest people I've met were very polite. By the way, I don't think that all areas of the state are nasty, there are progressive areas in which people do not adhere to the unwritten code of behavior.

I did grow up on a farm-but my parents are both from metropolitan areas, NYC and Minneapolis. I'm so glad I did grow up in the country, but I couldn't live there now. It's too isolated and conservative.

Fuji Ya's in Minneapolis is a great little romantic spot, especially if you reserve one of the zashiki rooms. The happy hour is noisy, but the restaurant is usually quiet. The boyf took me here on one of our first dates.
