Columbia Heights advances on Minneapolis Henry forfeit
Down by 25 points with a little more than 10 minutes left in the game, Minneapolis Henry forfeited its Class 3A, Section 3 quarterfinal game with Columbia Heights on Thursday night after some rough play on the court.
The season-ending forfeit came after a Henry player made a hard foul on Zach Lofton, the metro area’s leading scorer at over 30 points per game. Lofton had 30 points at the time of the incident as the Hylanders held a 67-42 advantage
“He was down on the floor and was punched and kicked,” Columbia Heights Coach Willie Braziel said. With the game stopped, a few parents rushed onto the court, concerned about the safety of the players, but there was no fighting by anyone, Braziel said. It was an emotional game because the winner heads to the semifinals and the loser is done for the season, he said.
