Fridley Man Gets 2 Years for Defrauding Mortgage Lenders of $1.9M
A 50-year-old Fridley man was sentenced Tuesday for defrauding eight mortgage lenders of $1.9 million.
Taleb Mohamed Wazwaz is sentenced to two years in prison on one count of conspiracy to commit mortgage fraud through the use of interstate wire, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
Wazwaz pleaded guilty May 4 2010, admitted to conspiring with others between May 2005 and March 2006 to defraud mortgage lenders. The fraud involved purchasing or causing others to purchase 12 Minneapolis properties at inflated prices.
Wazwaz or others involved in the scam kept much of the borrowed money for their own benefit.

Wonder if this guy is a member of the notorious Wazwaz family who operate tobacco shops all over the Metro and were nailed in a large tax fraud conspiracy several years ago?
Crime - the media loves it, people fear it, and criminals get away with it!
