Oxidado: Supercheap Crack Rolls Through Brazil

Brazil is seeing an epidemic of new drug addiction with Oxidado, a cocaine-based crack substitute that sells for $1 per dose. Most users are dead in a year.

So what the hey? Legalize it. Our homegrown critics say the war on drugs here is a waste of time and money, and forces drug prices up so addicts have to commit crimes to get it. At $1 a dose, this stuff is quite affordable. Let's see what happens when people have unlimited access to addictive drugs without the interference of bad old government.

Getting those products to the US requires a lot more transportation costs and other hassles, and a different economy in which to price your goods, too.
