Get big discounts at women's clothing sales
You know it's going to be a fun sale when the organizers say, "No fitting rooms or changing rooms. Please dress appropriately."

There's your warning for what promises to be a huge blowout from the troubled Plymouth-based retailer Christopher & Banks. At its largest warehouse sale, the retailer will have 70,000 items for women priced at $2 (jewelry and small items) or $5 (all garments and handbags). Missy, petite, accessories and sizes 14 and up are included.

The sale is from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the C&B corporate office (2400 Xenium Lane N., Plymouth). Only cash and checks are accepted. Organizers ask attendees to bring one personal-care item such as shampoo or soap to donate to a local domestic violence shelter.

Women looking for more contemporary clothing can check out the Mode sale on Eva Franco dresses, tops, skirts and jackets (sizes 0 to 8 only). The sale starts 9 a.m. Saturday (7788 Main St., Maple Grove, 763-391-6102, Sale prices are $49 to $89 (regularly $130 to $320). The Eva Franco line is normally sold at Anthropologie.

Lower vet bills
If you're delaying taking your pet to the veterinarian because of the expense, consider a discount vaccination clinic. offers a free exam of eyes, ears, teeth, skin, lungs and heart with a vaccination purchase. Shots and services at these Petco clinics cost 30 to 40 percent less than the Twin Cities average, said Dr. Joel Locketz, a vet at the Animal Medical Clinic in Minneapolis, which runs the clinics. Prices are $22 for rabies, $34 for dog or cat distemper combo, $30 for Lyme disease, $31 for heartworm testing and $41 for a feline leukemia/FIV test. This means what exactly? Show up in a leotard or swimsuit so you can try on clothing without need for a changing room?
