Should Cursive Writing Be Phased Out?

Educators debate on whether to continue teaching cursive writing to students. My young nephews are public school students, and can neither write nor read cursive writing. Although it's considerably more efficient in terms of speed than printing, it would appear to be a lost art. Do you think so?

#4. Cursive is a lost art and all I can say is ZOMG FINALLY! I'm a big fan of cursive an other forms of calligraphy as a form of art. But it's worthless as a form of communication.
